Chinese New Year, marked in the library "Ion Creangă" in the capital

They celebrated the New Year of the Metal Rat through recitals of poems, songs and dances. Thus, the Chinese New Year was marked in the library "Ion Creangă" by several students in the capital. The event was organized by the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, reports Moldova 1.

Nicoleta and Dinu Dodon are passionate about Chinese and study it with great interest. The children live in Ştefan Voda and come to Chisinau once a week to do Chinese lessons.

"My goal is to understand Chinese people and to go to China," said student Nicoleta Dodon.

"Chinese is a very interesting language. I want to go to China and see all the buildings,” said student Dinu Dodon.

China's Ambassador to Chisinau, Zhang Yinghong, said he was pleased to promote the values of one of the world's oldest cultures.

"For the Chinese, this is the biggest holiday and is a joy, because every Chinese returns home. It is a custom mainly related to the family, and on New Year's Eve, Chinese families will have cutlery for both the living people and the dead," said Zhang Yinghong, China's ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.

"We familiarize children with traditions, information on China's history, art and make them an invitation to the library where we have a very rich collection of books in Chinese," said the director of children's library "Ion Creangă", Eugenia Bejan.

The New Year is celebrated in China for 15 days, this period being called the Spring Festival.
