"Ethnography Book" - new work signed by Maria Ciocanu

A manifesto book of a professional, who has over half a century of experience at the National Museum of Ethnography and natural history – this is how her colleagues appreciate the new book titled "Ethnography Book" by Maria Ciocanu. She carried out researches on the left and on the right banks of the Nistru, issued the concept of the most important exhibitions of the museum, transmitted her knowledge, vocation for ethnography to the young generation of museographers, reports Moldova 1 TV.

Museography is taught differently than other professions. It is about experience, knowledge, a permanent curiosity, says Maria Ciocanu.

"It is a synthesis of the activity of a museum researcher, so it is a guide for the young researchers on how they can get to know the cultural values", says Maia Ciocanu.

"It is a book of great days that deserves to be in the libraries of everyone. This book is a tribute to the author's native village, Boldureşti , says writer Victor Prohin.

"It addresses different elements of material and immaterial cultural heritage in which we talk about life on the banks of the Nistru, on the banks of the Prut, about customs and family holidays”, considers Dorina Onica, head of the Ethnography section of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History.

Maria Ciocanu was born in 1946 in the village of Boldureşti, Nisporeni district. She graduated from the Faculty of Letters of the State University of Moldova. From 1972 to present, she has been active at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History. She has published over 40 scientific articles, including the catalog "Moldovan towels  (late 19th century - early 20th century). Museum collections ", published in 2003. For special merits in the development of museography, in 2003 she was granted the honorary title" Om Emerit ", writes Moldpres.
