Theatrical institutions remain closed

Even if the museums and libraries will resume their activity from June 1, respecting certain conditions, the theatrical and concert institutions will remain closed. Thus, the broadcasting of shows and concerts on the Facebook page remains a unique possibility for beauty lovers to watch certain shows and to meet beloved performers, Moldova 1 reports.

For about two and a half months, art lovers have had free shows and concerts on the social networks of concert and theater institutions.

"The online version is a way to communicate with the spectator, but I don't know how welcome it is and if it is not to the detriment of the theater. Theater is a living art, but here with the online show we are competing with cinema and we can't cope. A filmed show loses its qualities, said Petru Hadârcă, the director of the "Mihai Eminescu" National Theater.

This state of affairs will continue. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research has decided that the activity of theaters and concert halls will be resumed only when the risk of spreading the infection will decrease. In this context, it was specified that the salaries of employees in this field will be paid in full. The president of the Theater Union, Sandu Grecu, considers that the decision is correct, as the resumption of activities could contribute to the spread of COVID-19 infection. Thus, most theaters will go on vacation. Afterwards, the theaters will prepare for the long-awaited reunion with the spectators.

"The realities are harsh, we try to resist, I hope that soon we will meet in the theaters, at the performances in the repertoire and at the premieres we are preparing", mentioned Petru Hadârcă.

Theaters ceased operations on March 16 due to pandemic restrictions.
