The poet and playwright Ion Gheorghita would turn 80

The poet and playwright Ion Gheorghita was a child of nature and spring, a rector of renewal during the Bessarabian rebirth, making the truth about the Bessarabia promoted - so he was characterized by his fellow colleagues. Ion Gheorghita would have turned 80. The writer's commemoration event took place in the Hall of the Writers' Union of Moldova, Moldova 1 reports.

Ion Gheorghita is the author of several volumes of lyrics, dramaturgy and journalism. The colleagues claim that Ion Gheorghita has excelled in the literature for children and in the field of translation.

"In children's literature, he made particularly impressive achievements. He was one of the architects of the National Revival Movement at the end of the 80's, being part of that team of writers and shock intellectuals," said Arcadie Suceveanu, president of the Union of Writers' Union in Moldova.

Present at the event, the writer's daughter says she inherited from her father the love for beauty.

"I'm glad my dad is not forgotten. He loved people and children in particular. He taught me to love the beautiful, that is, art, speech, painting. I have mastered much of him, to love people," said Cezara Gheorghita, the writer's daughter.

The poet was born in April 1939 in the village of Larga (Briceni). Over the years, he has been editor of "Zorile Bucovinei" newspaper and "Moldova" magazine, but also editor-in-chief of the Translation College of the State University of Moldova. The poet was assassinated by strangers in November 1991.
