Winners of the "Writers from my locality" contest, nominated

Today, on the Facebook page of the “Mihail Kogălniceanu” National Museum of Literature, the winners of the first edition of the national online essay contest "Writers from my locality were announced. They will get diplomas and books. The most interesting essays will be published, informs Moldova 1.

The students were urged to find out what writers were born in their locality and to write an essay about life and creation, about the cultural facts of the personality that impressed them.

"We set out to initiate a kind of literary archeology, to start the history of Romanian literature on the left bank of the Prut. We also have works from the left bank of the Prut and more than that: questions have come up about whether they can write to us about Russian language writers from Moldova. I said yes. In general, literature must be studied starting from the wide space of Romanian literature, narrowing in the space to the left of the Prut and reaching like a pyramid upside down in the place where the man who writes is", said Maria Şleahtiţchi, director of the Museum National Literature "Mihail Kogălniceanu".

The national essay contest took place between May 25 and June 25. 107 students participated in. They  posted the essays online, and others sent them in letters. Thus, they expressed their admiration, respect and gratitude for 81 writers from their localities.

"They wrote about Nicolae Costenco,  George Meniuc,  Petru Zadnipru. We are glad that they have reached Aura Maru, for example. They covered all generations. The first advantage is that they will get to know the writers in their localities and make it possible for others to get to know these writers, but we work with many people and we have book awards, diplomas for everyone, including teachers who teach these students",  said Maria Şleahtiţchi.

After the competent jury read and selected the most valuable essays, the list of winners of the first edition of the "Writers from your locality" contest was posted on the museum's Facebook page. On the institution's website you can discover other posts: anniversary dates of the writers, exhibitions and comments about their creation.
