Moldovan citizens trapped in Paris will arrive in the country tonight

The 220 citizens blocked at the "Charles de Gaulle" Airport in Paris will arrive in Moldova in the evening of today, according to a statement issued by the Directorate of Communication and Protocol of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, after the meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations.

According to the statement, the plane from Paris, with 220 Moldovan citizens on board, will land at Chisinau International Airport at 9:30 pm.

At the meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, Prime Minister Ion Chicu called for the new mechanism of repatriation of Moldovan citizens and other states from where most requests are applied to be effective. These are Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Germany, Belgium and others. In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Ţulea specified that for the transportation of Moldovan citizens the aviation operators whose ships have a larger capacity will be selected.

“The competence of selecting citizens is assigned to the MFAEI through embassies and consulates. Don't get tickets until you have confirmation from consulates and embassies. All information is available at the consulates. You have to go to consulates and embassies to request the evacuation from these countries," said Prime Minister Ion Chicu during the show "Moldova Live" from the public television station Moldova 1, after the Exceptional Situations Commission meeting.

Ion Chicu specified that MAEIE will select the citizens, priority being mothers with children, students, minors, sick people, young people.

Ion Chicu announced that the estimated charter flight schedule for the next two weeks will be published during the night.

In the last 24 hours, 1,815 people entered the country and 1,038 left.
