Seven diaspora projects will be funded under the Diaspora Engagement Hub Program

Seven diaspora projects will be funded under the "Diaspora Engagement Hub" (DEH) Program, intended for citizens of the Republic of Moldova abroad. The winning projects will receive funding amounting to 40 thousand lei and, respectively, 50 thousand lei per project.

According to Violina Donu, senior consultant at the Office for Diaspora Relations (BRD), the "Diaspora Engagement Hub" includes funding lines for several subprograms: diaspora retraining, innovative diaspora programs and a subprogram for young people in the diaspora. Thus, in the current year, three beneficiaries were selected for the subprogram "Professional Return Of The Diaspora", and for "Innovative Programs Of The Diaspora" - four beneficiaries.

"The program aims to fund specialists to encourage the transfer of human capital and professional experience for the academic, social and economic development of the Republic of Moldova through professional return for a period of two weeks to two months," consultant Violina Donu told the show “Letters For Home” from Radio Moldova.

According to her, among the beneficiaries of the subprogram "Professional Return Of The Diaspora" are our compatriots Curtu Valeriu and Lozovanu Dorin, established in Germany, as well as Dragalin Elena, established in the United States of America.

Thus, the project won by Curtu Valeriu, "Je suis CHIPĂRUŞ", aims to develop the exhibition of caricatures in Chisinau with the title "Je suis CHIPĂRUŞ". "Through this project, he aims to expose and recognize the creation of cartoon painters who collaborated with the famous satire and humor magazine "Chipăruş" and popularize in society the sense of refined humor," said Violina Donu.

The second project to be funded under this subprogramme is that of Elena Dragalin from the USA. Entitled "Community Organizations", the aim of the project is to identify the needs of the beneficiary's home community and to mobilize resources to improve the quality of life in the locality.

"The objectives are to encourage and provide assistance to create at least four community organizations or groups to help young people, women, pensioners and migrants in the locality and also to assist the mayor's office in building trusting relations with citizens, including with newly created community groups to strengthen these groups. The project also aims to clean up a well in the locality," specified Violina Donu.

The third winner of the project, according to Violina Donu, is Lozovanu Dorin, based in Germany, who won based on the submitted project "Knowledge Of The Diaspora Through Education". "The purpose of this project is to promote knowledge about the diaspora, to initiate an educational program in university and pre-university education institutions through a cycle of lessons, interactive discussions and published materials to promote knowledge about the population of the Republic of Moldova, ethno- cultural, migration and diaspora," said Violina Donu.

At the same time, the project will finance four projects of the subprogram "Innovative Diaspora Programs", the purpose of which is to finance diaspora specialists for the implementation in the Republic of Moldova of innovative projects and activities in various fields based on knowledge transfer, international experiences and good practices. In this sense, according to Violina Donu, four projects are to be financed.

The first beneficiary is Iusumbeli Vasile, representative of the diaspora in Turkey, with the title of the "Copceac Open Diaspora" project. It is a project related to the IT field, as the purpose of the project is to create the web page of the Association of natives from Copceac village, the native village of the beneficiary," said Violina Donu.

For the second year in a row, our compatriot in Germany, Raţa Doina, also won. This year, thanks to the project "The Adventures Of The Girl With Surprises", the Moldovan woman set out to film an online show for children and to launch a series of online shows for children, which will be found on a Youtube platform, launched by the beneficiary.

Two other beneficiaries of the program are Rotaru Lilia, based in Israel and Scarlat Mihail, based in the Russian Federation. The projects proposed by the two Moldovans aim to publish a teaching material on caring for the elderly at home, as well as popularizing and training specialists in the field of industrial design with new individual design technologies.

According to Violina Donu, taking into account that we are in the middle of a pandemic, this year the projects have been adapted to the online format. "We talked to each beneficiary and went to meet each one to give them the opportunity to implement their projects. Thus, practically all the activities have been transposed in the online format and will be carried out in this way," Violina Donu also specified.

TRM.MD recalls that the "Diaspora Engagement Hub" Program is implemented by the State Chancellery, through the Office for Diaspora Relations (BRD), within the Project "Strengthening The Institutional Framework Of The Republic Of Moldova In The Field Of Migration And Development", funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The purpose of the program is to support the initiatives of Moldovans abroad in implementing their ideas in the Republic of Moldova and to highlight the human capital of the diaspora.
