EU financial assistance for regional development projects

Four local action groups in Ungheni and Cahul will receive financial assistance from the European Union under the Small Grants Program. They will receive 50 thousand euros each for the implementation of several regional development initiatives and projects and to support rural entrepreneurs, Mesager reports.

Lunca Prutului de Jos is one of the local action groups announced as winners. Eugenia Negru-Stoica, the party's manager, says the money will be used to support local entrepreneurs and to create jobs.

"In this project we aim to finance at least 10 projects, of which at least five should be oriented towards the private sector. We also aim to create at least five jobs, to register a local brand and to certify eco products ", said Eugenia Negru-Stoica.

The Local Action Group (GAL) Movila Măgura is also among the winners of the program. They want to improve the infrastructure of leisure areas and the quality of people's lives.

"In this project we set ourselves the following priorities: equipping small and medium-sized businesses, improving leisure and security conditions for residents, visitors, tourists and increasing community responsibility. We can achieve beautiful results together because we are stronger ", said  Maria Galiţ, president of the Movila Măgura GAL.

Two other winning local action groups are Cişmeaua Sudului and Valea Halmagei. The small grants program provides support for initiatives to develop and improve the quality of life in rural areas.

"I am happy when we can see each other, when I can visit you and see what else is needed, what better things to do and how we can support everything you do in the GAL," said EU Ambassador Peter Michalko in Moldova.

Seven local action groups have signed up to benefit from the free funding program.
