Authorities also announce major infrastructure investments for 2021

Several villages in the Republic of Moldova will be modernized. For next year, the Government will allocate from the state budget 500 million lei for construction projects of water supply and sewerage systems in the country's localities. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Ion Chicu after meeting with Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and incumbent President Igor Dodon. Also, the Government will continue to make massive investments in infrastructure projects in 2021, and another 900 million lei will be allocated for the continuation of works within the "Good Roads" project, Moldova 1 reports.

"Preventively, there will be 1.7 billion in the road fund. The Good Roads project will also be funded in 2021. At this stage, it stands at around 900 million. As we also announced, in the national ecological fund we provide 500 million lei, which will go for water and sewerage systems. In 2020, we had 300 million, in 2021 - 500 million," declared the Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

Ion Chicu also promised further salary increases for doctors and said that hospitals are equipped with the necessary equipment to deal with the epidemic.

"I am referring to all categories of employees in the budget sector. In addition, the medical staff, which is the vast majority financed from the compulsory medical insurance fund, from January 1, as we noted, will have a salary increase of 30%," Ion Chicu also declared.

At the same time, the Government does not give up its intention to cap local taxes, and the proposal comes from the Ministry of Finance, which claims that the exclusion of capping creates uncertainty for the business environment and a selective approach of local authorities in setting local taxes.
