World Bank cut Moldova's economic growth forecast for 2019

The World Bank has reduced Moldova's economic growth forecast for 2019, but has improved it for the next two years. The June report of the WB shows that Moldova's GDP growth will be 3.4% in 2019, 3.6% in 2020 and 3.8% in 2021, Moldova 1 TV reports.

Compared to the January report, the indicator for the current year was reduced by 0.4%, while for 2020 it was increased by 0.1% and for 2021 - by 0.6%.

World Bank experts say the worsening of the forecast for this year is due to lower remittances and high inflation that threaten to undermine available revenues and lead to a slowdown in economic growth.

Among the main problems of the sustainable growth of the Moldovan economy in the long run are the unfavorable demographic trends in the country, low productivity and vulnerability to external shocks.
