The World Bank will grant $100 million for the modernization of Termoelectrica

The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Sergiu Railean, had a virtual meeting with the World Bank's energy team on the start of the second phase of the project to improve the efficiency of the Centralized Energy Supply System (SACET II) in Chisinau, worth $100 millions.

Within it, the preparation aspects of the SACET II project were discussed, the actions of the parties responsible and the deadlines, including the aspects regarding the internal procedures for negotiating and approving the financing agreement by the parties.

It should be mentioned that the proposed investments will contribute to the increase of about 50% of the volume of electricity produced in cogeneration and by 25% of the thermal energy, but also, in time, to the reduction of the tariff for the thermal energy in Chisinau.

Another important component is the financial support of measures to make consumption more efficient in multi-storey buildings in Chisinau, by modernizing the intra-block heat distribution systems.
