Public debate in Chisinau on the purchase price of grapes

And this year there will be a large harvest of grapes, but the grapes are not qualitative, because during the baking period it was drought. Because of this, the producers will have loss, and the processors have no sales and the stocks remain full with the production of last year. These findings were made today in Parliament, in a debate organized by the Economy, Budget and Finance Commission on the purchase price of grapes and varieties in full harvest season, Radio Moldova Newsreel reports.

The most dissatisfied with the situation created in the wine sector are the producers, who say that due to the drought the quality of the grapes leaves to be desired, so that the grapes will be sold again this year at low prices. However, according to the Cahul producer, Dinu Teodos, the biggest dissatisfaction is that the big factories have made a cartel agreement between them to buy grapes at low prices and consequently those who lose are the small producers.

On the other hand, the processor Nicolae Chiosa says that the factories are also losing, because the sales of the wine products are small, and the stocks remain full and there is no place to store the new production.

In the context, the Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Georgeta Mincu, mentioned that as long as the quality of the wine is not worked, the processors will not release their stocks.

The viticulture expert of the National Office of Vine and Wine, Vladimir Coropca, argues that the wine products must contain geographical indications and designations of origin, so they will be successful in sales. According to him, and this year the quality of grapes leaves to be desired.
