Igor Dodon: There are no risks regarding the supply of gas and electricity for Moldova

The president of Moldova Igor Dodon claims that Moldova will be supplied with gas and electricity, starting with January 1, 2020. This was announced this morning by the head of state, in a press conference.

"The talks between Russia and Ukraine are over. We are optimistic that the gas will be delivered to the transit pipes through Ukraine, the basic scenario, but we have signed all the contracts necessary for gas supply, so  starting with January 1,  there will be no risks with gas and electricity supply for Moldova”, said Igor Dodon.

We remind that at present, Moldova buys gas from "Gazprom" based on the contract signed in 2008, but which expires on December 31, 2019. Chisinau authorities state that in case of lack of transit of Russian natural gas on the territory of Ukraine,  Moldova will be supplied with gas through the trans balcan corridor - from Bulgaria and Romania through Ukraine.
