Moldova to receive a one-time aid worth 500 million rubles from Russia

The Republic of Moldova will receive a single aid of 500 million rubles from the Russian Federation. The money will be given to farmers whose fruits have been shattered by this year's drought. The announcement was made by the country's president Igor Dodon after holding a video conference with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, reports Moldova 1.

The aid provided by the Russian Federation will be used to buy 20,000 tons of fuel. The two leaders also discussed the evolution of negotiations on obtaining by the Republic of Moldova the Russian loan worth 200 million euros. Igor Dodon wanted to mention that the negotiations are successful. At the same time, the head of state reiterated the interest of the Moldovan side in procuring the Russian vaccine against Coronavirus, after it will pass all the testing stages and will obtain the authorization of the World Health Organization.

"Unfortunately, this year, we have Coronavirus and we have a drought in agriculture, and I want to thank you for all the support that the Russian Federation offers, and for the fact that Russia is ready to give us that credit, I hope that in the near future we will be able to sign an agreement to receive the 200 million euros that are offered to support the economy of the Republic of Moldova," said the President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon.

At the same time, Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Federation will also provide Moldova with 15,000 tests for COVID-19.

"The last years for the Russian-Moldovan relations have not been simple, but thanks to your efforts lately they have improved. I very much hope that we will be able to continue working to restore and develop our interstate links. We know that this year Moldova also faced economic problems, not to mention Coronavirus, and farmers also suffered from the drought. At your request, we have allocated the necessary financial sources, it is a humanitarian aid in the amount of half a billion rubles, to procure fuel for farmers and businesses that have suffered in your country," said the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.

Igor Dodon announced that the Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum in teleconference format will take place on October 1, and the meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation in videoconference format will take place on October 2. At the same time, Igor Dodon asked the leadership of the Russian Federation to allow students from the Republic of Moldova studying in Russia to attend the place of study. The topic of the distribution of Russian fuels for Moldovan farmers was discussed today during a meeting of President Igor Dodon with the director of an oil company in our country.
