Minimum wage in the real sector increases by 165 lei and will amount to 2775 lei

As of May 1, the guaranteed minimum wage in the real sector will increase by 165 lei and will amount to 2775 lei per month. The ruling was approved today by the Government, reads a press release from the Executive.

Thus, employers from enterprises, organizations and other institutions in the real sector of the economy will not be able to offer workers a remuneration of less than 16.42 lei per hour or 2775 lei per month. The salary is calculated for a full-time work program averaging 169 hours per month.

The minimum guaranteed salary in the real sector serves as a basis for wage differentiation, based on the employee's training, qualification and competence. It is reviewed annually by the Government, depending on the increase in the consumer price index and the rate of increase in labor productivity.

In 2018 the minimum wage was 2610 lei.

Since December 1, last year, some 200,000 public servants receive higher salaries. In some cases, salaries increased by over 100%.
