More and more Moldovans keep their money in bank accounts

More and more Moldovans keep their money in bank accounts. According to the National Bank, at the end of last year, the total amount of deposits of individuals was 41 billion lei, an increase of 3 percent compared to the same period of 2017.

According to statistics, most money is kept in lei. Thus, Moldovans have deposited in the banks almost 23 billion lei. In foreign currency, the equivalent of over 18 billion lei was deposited.

Central Bank data also shows that most money is held in interest-bearing deposits.
