Roses are the most imported flowers in Moldova. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, our country acquired 2.8 million roses from Colombia and Ecuador last year, one million more than chrysanthemums, which reach Moldova from the Netherlands and Ecuador.
Republic of Moldova imports less carnations - 1.4 million in 2018. The figure decreased by over 300 thousand pieces compared to 2016.
Last year, 41,000 lilies, mostly from the Netherlands and Ecuador, and 17,000 pieces of orchids from the Netherlands and Thailand were also imported.
Most flowers were purchased in February in the amount of over $900,000, and the fewest in June worth $100,000.
