Angela Merkel congratulates Maia Sandu on victory in the election

German Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated Maia Sandu on her victory in the presidential elections, Radio Moldova reports.

In the congratulatory message, Merkel mentions: “Dear Mrs. Sandu, I am glad that the people of Moldova have given you a strong mandate for constructive cooperation on the international stage and the continuation of emergency reforms. The federal government will be happy to continue to support Moldova in this way", reads the message of the German chancellor.

 We remind you that yesterday several politicians sent congratulatory messages for Maia Sandu, including Klaus Iohannis and Vladimir Zelenskiy.

It should be noted that Sandu and Iohannis have already agreed, in a phone dialogue, regarding a visit of Iohannis to Moldova, after the inauguration.

Maia Sandu was also congratulated by the  Russian President Vladimir Putin, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, as well as Alexei Navalny and Svetlana Tihanovskaya.

According to the final results after processing all the minutes, Maia Sandu won the elections with 57.72% of the votes.
