When the term of office of President Maia Sandu could be validated

The mandate of the newly elected president, Maia Sandu, will be validated by the end of December, said the expert in constitutional law Nicolae Osmochescu in a special show on Radio Moldova.

"The current president, Igor Dodon, exercises his attributions until the oath is taken by the newly elected president, Maia Sandu. The term of office of the President may be extended by law in two cases: in case of war or in case of catastrophe. The result of the election for the position of president must be totalized by the Central Electoral Commission, and the Constitutional Court validates it. The elected candidate takes the oath before the Parliament and the Constitutional Court at the latest 45 days after the elections ", said the expert in constitutional law Nicolae Osmochescu.

Some political experts argue that the issue of validating the presidential election is almost closed, once both the Russian Federation, the European Union and the United States have recognized the presidential election. The election was also recognized by international observers.
