CEC warns political parties to ensure the protection of personal data
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) warns the political parties on the obligatory character of the observance of the provisions of the normative acts in terms of personal data protection.
The processing of these data of citizens with the right to vote (name, surname, personal numerical code, home address, political beliefs, etc.) is carried out in strict accordance with the provisions of the Law and provided that they are not disclosed to third parties without the consent of their subjects.
In this context, we draw the attention of political parties that, as data controllers, they are responsible for the processing of personal data and must take into account the nature, scope, context and purposes of the processing. Also, they must assume the risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals, to prove the conformity of processing activities.
