Maia Sandu submitted the signatures for her registration in the electoral race

The leader of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu, submitted today, September 23, the subscription lists with signatures for registration for the presidential election on November 1, 2020. "In order for citizens to be able to exercise their fundamental right to elect their leaders, we need free and fair elections, we need the CEC to provide us with conditions for elections to be free and fair. We ask the CEC to make correct decisions, which will favor the conduct of elections only from money obtained according to the law. We will continue to defend every vote of the citizens, because this means true democracy," said the PAS leader.

Subsequently, Maia Sandu submitted to the CEC the signatures for her registration in the electoral race. According to her, more than 30,000 signatures were collected, but 25,000 were filed, as required by law.

"We collected over 30,000 signatures, but we brought 25,000 to the CEC. We checked all the signatures, which were collected in good faith. We followed all the rules - both sanitary and electoral. We believe that everything will be fine," the PAS leader also declared.

According to the provisions of the Electoral Code, in order to be registered by the CEC, all candidates for the position of President of the Republic of Moldova submit subscription lists, containing the signatures of at least 15,000 and no more than 25,000 voters from at least half of the administrative units. territorial level two of the Republic of Moldova. The administrative-territorial units of the second level of the Republic of Moldova, in which no less than 600 signatures were collected, are considered compliant with this provision.

So far, three candidates have been registered in the presidential election race: Renato Usatii (Our Party), Andrei Nastase (DA Platform) and Tudor Deliu (PLDM). The registration application of Andrian Candu (Pro Moldova) was rejected. Two other candidates - Igor Dodon (independent) and Violeta Ivanov ("Şor" Party) - submitted the lists of signatures, which are to be verified.

The presidential election will take place on November 1, and the election campaign will start no earlier than 30 days before election day, i.e. on October 2.
