President of Romania Klaus Iohannis will pay an official visit to Moldova

The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis will pay an official visit to Moldova after Maia Sandu took over the presidential mandate. A statement issued by the Romanian Presidency reads that Klaus Iohanis and Maia Sandu agreed in a phone conversation that the main objective in the bilateral relationship is to expand and to deepen the Strategic Partnership for European integration of Moldova between the two states, for the benefit of all Moldovan citizens.

"During the discussion, President Klaus Iohannis said that the result obtained by Mrs. Maia Sandu represents a victory for democracy, it is a decisive step towards the irreversible European path of Moldova, which Romania has supported and will continue doing it ", reads the press release.

At the same time, the President of Romania is confident that Moldova will find the way to generate a political formula of government that clearly and firmly supports the reform program of the President-elect and her pro-European approach.

"The road to Europe is one of progress, with courageous reforms, mainly in justice field and the strengthening of democracy (). Based on the Bilateral Strategic Partnership for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, foundation of the special relationship based on the language, culture and history community, Romania is fully prepared to resume the political and technical dialogue with Moldova in order to continue and deepen joint projects ", the press release reads.
