The United States congratulates Maia Sandu on her victory in presidential elections

The United States congratulates Maia Sandu on her historic achievement as Moldova’s first female elected president.

“Since 1991, the United States has been a dedicated partner to Moldova. We have supported the Moldovan people as they have worked to build their democracy and a more prosperous future for their country. Moldova’s leaders should now work together to face the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, develop Moldova’s economy, strengthen its democratic institutions, and defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The United States will robustly support these efforts”, reads the message.

According to the preliminary results presented by the CEC, Maia Sandu is the winner of the presidential elections in Moldova, with a score of 57.72% of votes compared to 42.28% obtained by her opponent Igor Dodon.
