Young people, encouraged to vote

I want to encourage young voters to vote as much as possible. The initiative belongs to the Center for Educational Development, which launched a video spot motivating young voters in the Republic of Moldova to be responsible and to do their civic duty to go to the polls, reports Moldova 1.

The objective of the video is to involve and motivate young people to actively participate in the electoral process, to be aware that they are capable of remarkable things, and to make a change they have to go to the polling station to vote. The video was developed as part of the "Practice Your Voting Rights - Informing Young Voters About the Electoral Process and Voting Procedure" project, funded by a grant from the US State Department.

"Voting is a right of young voters and a civic responsibility. By voting we promote peace, equality and respect, rights and democracy. Together we can make a real difference," according to the elaborated video.

"Exercising the right to vote is one of the most important rights and responsibilities that a citizen has. Great changes require involvement and they will occur when young people show civic activism and participate in the vote," said Cristina Berlinschii, project coordinator.

TRM.MD recalls that, on November 1, in the Republic of Moldova, presidential elections will take place. Thus, by direct vote, the citizens will elect the president of the country. Eight candidates aspire to the position of President of the Republic of Moldova.
