Eurovision 2021 will take place in Rotterdam

Rotterdam will host the Eurovision 2021 competition, after this year's edition was canceled due to restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic. The two semi finals will take place on May 18 and 20, and the grand final on May 22, Moldova 1 reports.

For now, the organizers do not know exactly how the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place. And they don't even know if they will keep this year's stage, already built and not climbed by any artist.

"We have a whole year until then to analyze in detail the possible scenarios with the parties involved, so that the show takes place despite the circumstances. We believe that the stage will be kept for next year, because it was already ready," said Sieste Bakker, executive producer of Eurovision Song Contest.

The Rotterdam Arena, which was to host the 2020 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, has been transformed into a center for COVID-19 patients. Eurovision 2020 was suspended in March, when the European Union announced that the event would not be held for the first time in its history due to the spread of COVID-19 and the restrictive measures taken by the governments of the 41 participating countries.

Instead, an online program called "Europe Shine a Light" was held, in which all the artists who should have participated in the Eurovision 2020 contest took part.

The Republic of Moldova was to be represented this year by Natalia Gordienko, with the song "Prison".
