Brexit: The British Parliament rejects the latest version of the agreement backed by Theresa May Government

The UK Parliament rejected the latest version of the Brexit agreement backed by the London government on Tuesday evening by voting, Agerpres.ro reports

The 242 MPs voted in favor of the agreement - modified from last November and rejected in January - against 391. The defeat suffered by Prime Minister Theresa May was categorical, albeit less severe than at the beginning of the year, there were only 202 votes in favor of the agreement and 432 against.

Next, it is only possible to withdraw the United Kingdom from the European Union on 29 March without agreement or to postpone the date for Brexit.

On the British domestic policy background, Reuters believes that early elections or a new referendum are possible.

May addressed the House of Commons immediately after Tuesday's vote and regretted the outcome. She said parliamentarians must decide whether they wanted to revoke Article 50 of the EU Treaty on the withdrawal of a Member State or call a new referendum on Brexit. In any case, she added, the European Union will want to know what the British intend to do in case of a postponement.

The PM said she would submit Wednesday to the parliamentary vote the option of withdrawing from the EU without agreement. If it is to be rejected, as expected, another vote on Thursday will be followed by the government requesting permission to request a date deferral for Brexit.
