New cases of COVID-19 in the first countries hit by the virus

The number of COVID-19 infected people is growing alarmingly in several countries around the world where there has recently been an improvement. In the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, which were the first to be hit by the virus, but also which managed to bring the situation under control, new cases and seemingly inexplicable increases in the number of infections appeared, Moldova 1 reports.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has urged governments around the world to conduct mass tests and monitor how people follow precautions. Since the first case of Coronavirus, more than seven months ago, nearly 17 million people have become ill. The latest toll of dead is almost 664,000, and 10.5 million people have recovered.

Hong Kong is facing a major new outbreak, with more than a thousand new cases in the past two weeks, in the past six days, with more than 100 cases reported daily. The new growth came after the city appeared to have got rid of Coronavirus and relaxed restrictions. This week, Hong Kong authorities imposed an obligation to wear a mask in public.

Belgium also announced strict measures against COVID-19. From 23:00 until 06:00, the inhabitants are obliged to stay in their houses. At the same time, public gatherings are prohibited, except for family gatherings.

Australia is also facing a massive increase in the number of cases. The worst-hit area is southern Victoria, which reported 384 cases on Monday. Experts urge people to be patient, saying that the quarantine measure may work, but that many infections that occurred a few weeks ago are only now being detected.

At the same time, Romania announces a series of prevention measures. These include the obligation to wear a protective mask in open spaces. The measure applies at certain time intervals in crowded areas and excludes persons who engage in intense physical activity and children under the age of five.

The harshest measures were taken in Vietnam, where the government began evacuating about 80,000 tourists from downtown Da Nang on Monday after three residents contracted the virus.

The situation is becoming increasingly alarming in Ukraine as well. In the last day alone, more than a thousand cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the neighboring country. Most diseases are recorded in Kiev and the Lviv region. The increasing trend in the number of COVID-19 infected is observed in Ukraine after the relaxation of several restrictions. This was stated by Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov. The Kiev government continues to refine approaches to quarantine in the country.
