Covid-19 in the world

The coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc worldwide. Thus, the countries with the most deaths in the last 24 hours are France, with 1,120 new cases, the United States with 1,092 and Spain - 932. Statistics show that more than one million cases of infection were officially diagnosed in 188 of countries since the beginning of the epidemic. In Romania, over 3,180 cases of coronavirus infection were registered, and 116 people died, reports Moldova 1.

Fifteen thousand fines were imposed by police in Naples, Genoa and Rome, after thousands of Italians went out, although it is forbidden. Even though southern Italy has not been hit as badly as a northern pandemic, the area is legally quarantined. Locals should leave their homes only for food and drug supplies, or for other justified reasons set out in government decrees.

Along with Italy, Spain is the second worst affected country in Europe, with over 119 recorded cases and almost 11 thousand deaths. Thus, as a sign of solidarity with Spain, during this period of heavy trial in the fight with the new coronavirus, the Romanian Presidential administration illuminated the Cotroceni Palace in the colors of the Spanish flag.

On the other hand, Germany continues to have a comparatively small number of deaths and can become a champion of the amount of tests performed, which rises up to 500 thousand weekly. However, in this country there are periodic derogations from the ban on public meetings. About 300 people gathered in front of a mosque in Berlin were hardly persuaded by law enforcement to keep their distance. The management of the mosque assured the police that it would insist again on social networks that people would not respond personally to the call to prayer. To restore its economy, Germany is planning to introduce so-called immunity passports to find out how many people are already immune to the virus. Thus, these people will be exempted from daily restrictions and may return to school or work.

The UK Government also intends to closely monitor the evolution and extent of COVID-19 virus across the country. According to a new decision, 3.5 million tests will be purchased, which can be ordered online or bought in pharmacies, for residents to apply them alone, at home.

Meanwhile, in the US, the authorities recommend that the population cover their face with masks. The new recommendations are contrary to the initial advice as the use of masks is not necessary for healthy people. Donald Trump said, however, that the recommendations, which came after a week of heated deliberations inside the White House, are voluntary and he will not apply them.

"We recommend covering the face with medical material, as a voluntary additional public health measure. So it is a volunteer requirement. They suggested for a while. If people want to wear masks, they can. If they want to wear scarves, which most of them have in the house, they can do that too," said US President Donald Trump.

According to official data, approximately 280,000 cases of infection have been reported in the United States and the virus has killed more than 7,400 people.
