Europe's economy severely affected by the pandemic

Europe's economy is severely affected by the pandemic. Even though shops, restaurants and other businesses have opened, people are in no hurry to empty their pockets. The virus has not yet disappeared, and for now experts are not sure about the appearance of a second wave of infections with the new Coronavirus, Moldova 1 reports.

One week after opening stores in Bulgaria, owners are discouraged by the small number of buyers. The owner of a store, Tatiana Ivanov, said that "it is not an easy situation, all businesses will have losses for a long time".

The same is true in Belgium, with sales down by up to 40% from the pre-pandemic period. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, said that "starting from June 1, the open-air markets and car shows will be reopened, and the shopping centers, auction houses, photo studios will be able to be reopened from June 15."

At the same time, Germany intends to extend the deterrence measures until July 5, after outbreaks of Coronavirus have appeared in newly reopened public places. Spain has reduced the death toll by almost two thousand, bringing the total death toll to 26,000.

"It's something that happens in all epidemics. When the evolution of the epidemic leaves us little time, we have to rectify the figures and in some cases reduce them," says the director of the Health Alert Center, Fernando Simon.

In Madrid, medical staff protested in front of hospitals due to a lack of equipment and other resources.

"Many cuts have been made in the field of public health, services have been privatized, this crisis has been difficult to manage," says Laura Castillo, a nurse. Authorities in Italy are looking for more than 60,000 volunteers to monitor how citizens comply with the rules of social distancing at this stage of relaxing restrictions. The United States is approaching the threshold of 100,000 deaths caused by Coronavirus.

At least 10 US states have seen significant increases after lifting a large number of restrictions, and people have not complied with the rules imposed by health authorities and stormed beaches and parks.

Russia has recorded nearly nine thousand new cases in the last 24 hours and 174 deaths, a record for the country. Many Russian doctors say they have been trained to report as few deaths as possible.
