European Parliament election 2019: Citizens of the Czech Republic and Ireland elect representatives in the future European Legislature

Citizens of the Czech Republic and Ireland are expected to vote in the polls on Friday to elect their representatives in the future European Legislature, the difference between the two countries being that the Czech elections will continue on Saturday, when elections will take place in Malta, Latvia and Slovakia, reports Mediafax.

In the case of the Czech Republic, around 8.4 million inhabitants are expected to the election. They will have to elect 21 candidates to represent them in the next four years in the European Parliament.

In Ireland, the total number of voters is 3.2 million, represented by 13 MEPs in the future Legislative, two of whom will be appointed, but will not be able to perform their duties until the Brexit is held.

In addition to European Parliament elections, local elections and a referendum to ease divorce conditions will also be held in Ireland.

The Netherlands and Britain held elections for the European Parliament on Thursday, and the citizens of other countries, including Romania, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, are expected to vote on Sunday.

Results from all 28 EU member states will be announced on Sunday evening at 23:00, Brussels time (24:00, Romania time), after the urns close.
