President of Turkey: Thousands of Syrian refugees will arrive in the EU

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that Ankara decided to open Turkey's borders with the European Union for thousands of Syrian refugees. 20,000 Syrian refugees have already crossed the border, Radio Moldova reports, referring to the publication "Haber".

Erdoğan recalled that the EU promised Turkey support in solving the Syrian refugee problem, but, unfortunately, "did not keep its promise." The dramatic intensification of the Russian and Syrian bombings on the Idlib region (under the control of the jihadist militias) has forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee homes", Erdoğan said in a press conference in Ankara.

According to estimates by Turkish authorities, around 30,000 Syrian refugees headed to the EU countries.
