The world should prepare for a coronavirus pandemic, warns WHO

The number of coronavirus diseases in the world is increasing. In Spain, the third case of Covid-19 was confirmed. In Italy, however, the death toll has reached seven, and the number of infections has risen to 230. Iran, South Korea, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman and Afghanistan have announced new cases of contamination. At the same time, China has recorded the lowest death rate in the last two weeks, and the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the world should prepare for a pandemic with the new coronavirus, reports Moldova 1.

The non-observance of the safety measures in a hospital and the irresponsibility of the people who left the quarantined localities, would be the reasons for the aggravation of the COVID-19 epidemic that affects the north of Italy, say the authorities.

"It is clear that there was an outbreak and that the virus spread from the hospital. They did not act in accordance with the prudent protocols recommended in these cases, and this certainly contributed to the spread," said Giuseppe Conte, the Italian prime minister.

In the midst of the coronavirus epidemic several Italians complained that they were robbed in their own house by people disguised as paramedics. Twelve cities are quarantined, schools were closed and virtually all cultural, religious and sporting events were canceled. The stores are empty, and the prices for masks and disinfectant have reached record prices. In Milan, three paper masks cost 70 euros. However, people have not barricaded themselves in homes.

"I know the virus is contagious, fortunately I have no other health problems so I put on a mask to prevent it."

The third case of coronavirus was confirmed in Tenerife. It is about an Italian tourist, a medical professional, who presented himself at the hospital. At the same time in Japan a fourth person on the cruise ship quarantined lost his life, another 700 are hospitalized. Virtually all tourists on the ship were disembarked.

In Hong Kong schools will remain closed until at least April 20 because of the coronavirus. The situation is also dramatic in South Korea, where there were over 800 illnesses and nine deaths. More than half of them are related to a religious sect. In Iran, the exact number of infected persons is not known. The regime in Tehran did not report the exact figure. However, the epidemic in Iran has affected other countries in the region. Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman and Afghanistan have announced new cases of contamination, all patients are people who have recently visited Iran. In total, 37 countries are affected by Covid-19. The World Health Organization claims that the epidemic has not reached the level of a pandemic, although it has potential.

"It is time for all countries, communities, families and individuals to focus on preparation. We must focus on stopping, while doing everything we can to prepare for a possible pandemic, each country must make its own risk assessment taking into account its own context,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director General.

Vietnam is the first country to appear to have escaped coronavirus. All 16 infected citizens have been cured, the Vietnam Health Minister announced. Moreover, no new cases of illness have been reported since February 13th.
