Polish President Andrzej Duda to face Warsaw mayor in the second ballot

Polish President Andrzej Duda, backed by the ruling ruling "Law and Justice" party, was the favorite in the Polish presidential election. However, he did not get enough votes to win directly, so he will face in the second round the Liberal mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, supported by the Civic Platform, reports Moldova 1.

Preliminary results suggest that Andrzej Duda got over 42% of the vote and Trzaskowski more than 30%.

Voter turnout was high, despite the Coronavirus and restrictions on physical distance.

In Poland, the role of the president is primarily representative, but can influence foreign and defense policy.
