Ukrainian Prime Minister Alexei Goncharuk resigns

Ukraine's Prime Minister Alexei Goncharuk has sent President Volodimir Zelenski a request for dismissal. Goncharuk has made the announcement this morning on his Facebook page. The prime minister has pointed out the priority actions that will follow shortly, noting that the biggest challenge is the eradication of corruption.

Alexei Goncharuk mentioned that he came to office to carry out the program of the country's president.

"I came to office to carry out the program of the president of the country. He (the president no.) represents for me a model of openness and fairness. However, in order to exclude any suspicions about our respect and trust towards the president, I wrote a request for resignation and sent it to the president with the right to be introduced in Parliament," wrote Alexei Goncharuk.

The prime minister also wrote that the Government has developed a serious basis for the country's development in 2020 and has listed the main directions. One of the big challenges, according to Alexei Goncharuk, is the eradication of corruption, the criminal schemes built up over the years being difficult to eliminate in just a few months.

The prime minister also referred to videos distributed on the Internet and social networks, assembled from excerpts from the Government meeting.

"Their content artificially creates the impression that my team and I do not respect the president - our political leader. This is in the interest of several groups wishing to gain access to funding. But it's not true,” Goncharuk said.

According to unian.net, on the evening of January 15, audio recordings appeared on the social networks that would be from meetings with the participation of Prime Minister Alexei Goncharuk, Finance Minister Oxana Makarova, Deputy Prime Minister of the National Bank President Yulia Kovaliv and other officials. They were discussing economic issues before a meeting with President Volodimir Zelenski.

In the recordings, a person with a voice similar to Goncharuk calls himself "profane" in the economy. After that, the information started circulating in the social networks as Goncharuk wrote a request for resignation.
