Ukrainian sailors captured by Russian soldiers in the Kerch Strait should be considered prisoners of war, reads the report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, reports Moldova 1.

The document states that they should be granted war prisoners' status until a competent court decides otherwise.

They should be treated humanely, protected from acts of violence or intimidation and given the necessary medical assistance.
