Extreme weather in France and Croatia
On the summer threshold, the winter returned in force on the island of Corsica and in Croatia. The abundant snow caused traffic problems and the authorities had to use the snow removal equipment, reports Moldova 1.
On the island of Corsica, where it should normally be 20 degrees Celsius, people woke up with snow and temperatures of zero degrees Celsius. Under the weight of snow, several trees were laid down, the traffic is carried out under winter conditions.
A mountain tunnel was closed for safety reasons, and road accidents took place out of the winter landscape. In the mountainous areas of Croatia it has also snowed abundantly, at least 500 trees have been laid down.
"The most important thing at this moment is to clean up the roads from trees and the cables that have been laid to the ground. It was a strong storm," said Ivica Dugaäki, forester.
At the foot of the mountains, many rivers threaten to come out of the their beds. Along the Korana River was declared a state of emergency and a sand dike was erected from sandbags.
Europe is experiencing extreme weather. Croatia has been hit by strong storms. Italy was devastated by hail and floods, and in Bosnia the floods left behind a disaster.
