PAS proposes a legislative initiative regarding the transparency of the MPs’ activity

The deputies of PAS, Lilian Carp and Galina Sajin, are to register today, January 14, in Parliament a legislative initiative to supplement the Parliament's Regulation for enhancing decision-making transparency. This amendment provides for the publication, on the website of the Legislature, of the amendments registered by the deputies, the publication of questions, questions and answers, the shorthand and the publication of the speeches of the deputies and statements made in Parliament.

"At the moment, Parliament's website does not allow access to some kind of information, the amendments are generally published. The international practice shows that the monitoring of the activity of the deputies is widely accepted and ensured in the democratic countries,” says Galina Sajin.

PAS deputy Lilian Carp notes that this legislative initiative also provides for the publication on Parliament's website and of the authors of the amendments. According to him, the deputies vote on a draft law in the second reading, without knowing very often who are the authors of these amendments. As a result, projects with "wonderful changes" are voted in the final reading.

"What we propose is that on the Parliament page, the authors of the amendments, even if we access the name of the deputy, in his activity we want to see that he is the author of an amendment. We realize after these amendments are submitted that sometimes the content of these bills changes,” said Lilian Carp.

The PAS deputy also said that more letters are coming to the deputies. Thus, he also proposes that the date of entry of the letters, the number, the content, on the one hand, and the actions of the deputies, on the other, should be placed on the Parliament's website.

In order for this legislative initiative to enter into force, 51 votes are required.
