Political analyst: The only way to bring down the Chicu Government is to have another Government

The DA Platform will not yet file a motion of censure against the Government, and the PAS considers that an interim Government is not exactly the appropriate response to the crisis generated by Coronavirus. The Socialists and Democrats, who represent the parliamentary majority, say the intention to dismiss the Cabinet of Ministers is irresponsible, given that prompt measures are needed to mitigate the social and economic consequences of the pandemic. The statements were made on the show "Moldova live", Moldova 1 reports.

"Of course, in this situation of health, economic and political crisis, it is very difficult to launch a Government," mentioned Igor Grosu, the president of the PAS parliamentary faction.

"At this stage, Moldova cannot be led by an interim government, because it would be a disaster against the background of the crisis we are going through," said Andrei Nastase, president of the DA Platform.

One of the promoters of the resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers, the "Pro Moldova" group, accused by PSRM and PDM of trying to break the parliamentary majority after the last revelations of the general prosecutor, denies that the actions were related to the billion file.

"We still want this file to have a finality, to have answers. The Pro Moldova group is for all those involved in bank fraud to answer and go to prison, no matter who is behind it," said Sergiu Sîrbu, deputy of the "Pro Moldova" group.

Democrats say the government's ouster will plunge the country into a deeper crisis amid problems caused by Coronavirus.

"In the Republic of Moldova, there is a functional Government, to which you can have criticisms, objections. We have these discussions with them, however, to resign a Government being almost convinced that no one will be appointed in its place, this is a very big problem," said Dumitru Diacov, PDM deputy.

The Socialists describe the intentions of dismissing the Chicu Government as irresponsible, but are preparing for different scenarios.

"Let the court answer the question of whether the president-elect of the people can dissolve the Parliament as a result of the non-investiture of a new Government. Eventually, if the parliamentary opposition could manifest itself unjustifiably and the Government will give up, we will see what would be the solutions to solve this problem," said Vasile Bolea, PSRM deputy.

The experts do not give great chances to the attempts to create a new majority.

"I can't imagine that the PAS party and the DA Platform, which have no contacts with Şor and practically not with Candu, could rush in a vote that involves first gathering all the deputies, bringing down the Government and to have the certainty that they will support a new Government, and will not set conditions, and then to support this Government politically. For me, politics is unimaginable," said Andrei Popov, president of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives.

"The only way to bring down the Chicu Government is to have another Government. And, it is important that it be further voted on and supported. This is the great test for the opposition. It will be easier to destroy, it will be harder to build," mentioned Corneliu Ciurea, political analyst.

Meanwhile, the head of state believes that the parliamentary majority will be a functional one, at least a few weeks or a few months. However, he does not exclude another scenario.

"If there are less than 50 seats in this coalition, then we will convene with Mrs. Grecianii and Mr. Chicu and decide what to do. As far as another Government is concerned, I do not think it will be so simple to call another Government in this situation. There is total chaos in Parliament. I don't think the right will risk it. I would be happy if they risk going with Plahotniuc to appoint another Government," said Igor Dodon.

The PSRM - PDM parliamentary majority has 52 deputies, after previously several democratic parliamentarians joined the "Pro Moldova" group and the "Şor" Party faction.
