The 47 member states of the Council of Europe today elect the new secretary general of the organization
The 47 member states of the Council of Europe elect today the new secretary general of this organization, who will replace the Norwegian Thorbjorn Jagland starting with October 1. There are two candidates, namely Belgian Didier Reynders and Croatian Marija Pejcinovic Buric, Agerpres.ro reports.
Russia will also participate in the vote, after in the night from Monday to Tuesday , the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) decided to restore Russia’s voting rights suspended after the Crimea's annexation in 2014.
