PAS deputy accuses Moldova 1 of propaganda. The public station qualifies the accusations as interference in its activity

Unfounded accusations and attempts to interfere in the activity of the public television station - this is how the leadership of Moldova 1 describes the statements of the deputy of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), Sergiu Litvinenco, after he said at the show "Red Button", relaunched last night, that he was going to make order in the institution, reports Moldova 1.

According to Sergiu Litvinenco, in the last week of the presidential campaign, Moldova 1 allegedly made propaganda in favor of the independent candidate Igor Dodon.

"I have seen many campaigns, but not from a public television to make propaganda in favor of one candidate and against another candidate. I think we will make an order on public television as well. Ms. Sandu had interviews for Euronews, for CNN, but the public television, of the country where she was elected by a million people, has nothing to do with inviting the president-elect," said Sergiu Litvinenco.

Moderator: "All the reports that were published showed that Moldova 1 reflected impartially."

Litvinenco: "You did Dodonist propaganda."

Moderator: “With what? Because Ms. Maia Sandu did not come, although we invited her to debates. And in the first round, people were invited, the PAS representatives came. We categorically reject the accusations brought against us".

The leadership of Moldova 1 qualifies the statements of the PAS deputy as false. This week, the president-elect was invited to the Moldova live show for Tuesday, November 24, but the head of the PAS Press Service, Aurica Jardan, said that Maia Sandu will not go on any television for two weeks, but will provide a clearer answer in the coming days. At the same time, Moldova 1 recalls that in the second round of electoral debates in the presidential election, both candidates for the presidency of the Republic of Moldova were invited - and Igor Dodon, and Maia Sandu, so that voters could find out from the first source what they propose, to be able to make a difference and to offer their vote in full knowledge of the facts.

"I had a consistent correspondence with the PAS representatives, the official letters sent to the electoral staff being also confirmed. Unfortunately, Maia Sandu did not accept the invitation, and this decision, according to the legislation, must not affect the broadcasting time allocated to the opponent, who appeared on the show. Moreover, we insisted that at least one PAS representative be present, but this proposal was not accepted either," mentions Moldova 1.

On the other hand, the sociologist Ian Lisnevschi says that it is not the politicians, but the profile associations that should give a note to the reflection of the electoral campaign on Moldova 1.

"I do not have to take note if what you said is true. There are organizations that monitor television, such as WachDog, which come with some reports," the sociologist claims.

TRM.MD recalls that, according to the monitoring report of the Independent Journalism Center, in both rounds of the presidential election, the public television station Moldova 1 offered equal access to the electoral candidates, the tone of the reflection being mainly neutral. At the same time, Moldova 1 is not on the list of the 14 television stations sanctioned by the Audiovisual Council for the unbalanced coverage of certain electoral contestants.
