Discussions at the Presidency on the creation of a ruling coalition

The presidents of the political formations that have access to Parliament, except for the Sor Party, have today held talks with President Igor Dodon to form a parliamentary majority. After meeting with Igor Dodon, party leaders made statements to the press.

The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), the first party that discussed with the president today called colleagues in Parliament for responsibility.

"About our position, we informed the President. I think things are very clear. We await the reaction of our colleagues and call them to accountability. Forget about all their own ambitions, political, functions. Let's start talking. You can not talk about something, if you do not start the talks," said Zinaida Greceanii, president of the PSRM parliamentary faction.

At the same time, Greceanii said that the PSRM did not come up with proposals for positions, although the party holds the most mandates and has the right to do so.

As for the offer of the ACUM Bloc regarding the creation of a minority government headed by Maia Sandu, PSRM president said they are "populist statements". According to Zinaida Greceanii, it is not rational to discuss functions until the start of the negotiations.

"We are going to start the negotiations and we will either make concessions or dealings with political parties that have come to Parliament," Zinaida Greceanii said.

Subsequently to the Presidency, for discussions with Igor Dodon, the leaders of PDM - Vlad Plahotniuc, Pavel Filip and Andrian Candu came. After the meeting, Democrat leader Vlad Plahotniuc said that the Democratic Party of Moldova was still open for talks with all parliamentary parties to create a majority coalition.

"During these talks, the head of state has noted the political blockage in which the Republic of Moldova is today. PDM is ready and open to dialogue with all political parties, with all parties wanting to avoid the political crisis as an economic and social consequence to be in Moldova following this blockade," said Vlad Plahotniuc.

The Democratic leader said his party "has the intention to form a parliamentary majority as soon as possible" to stabilize the situation in the country.

At 16:00, the leaders of the bloc ACUM accompanied by several MPs came to the presidency. After the talks with Igor Dodon, the co-presidents of the political bloc ACUM, Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase declared that they had presented the president the position of the bloc and the proposed package of laws to deoligarchize the state.

"The bloc ACUM says that the country must first be deoligarchised, after which the other problems faced by the citizens obviously can be solved. We have previously announced draft laws on state de-oligarchization, and today we have clearly said that we can assume government within a minority government after the President of the Parliament proposed by the bloc ACUM is voted. The block does not have enough votes to ensure a comfortable vote for the Government, but we are the only credible team before the EU," said Maia Sandu.

After talks with political leaders, President Igor Dodon announced that if the parties do not reach a compromise, on April 2 they are waited again at the Presidency.

Following the parliamentary elections of February 24, 35 PSRM deputies, 30 from the PDM, 26 from the ACUM Bloc, seven from the Sor Party and three independent deputies entered Parliament.
