Igor Dodon calls on the opposition to secure a quorum at today's plenary session

Show responsibility, ensure the activity of the Parliament and do not block the activity of the Government - this is the message of the President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon to the opposition parties. The message of the head of state comes in the context in which today, July 9, starting with 10:00, the sitting of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova would take place, previously postponed three times due to lack of quorum after the opposition parties boycotted the plenary sessions. According to Igor Dodon, if the deputies do not meet in the plenary session today to approve the draft laws and to allow the Chicu Government to assume responsibility, the procedure for dissolving the Parliament will be initiated.

"I am watching with great concern what is happening. Today will be a new attempt, the fourth to unlock the money that the state wants to give to pensioners, doctors, farmers. For more than a week, the opposition in Parliament, the oligarchic parties with the voluntary or unconscious participation of Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase, have been blocking the money that must reach the citizens, people who are suffering and waiting for this help. Today in Parliament we have an alliance of chaos, the purpose of which is to block and destabilize the situation in the country. We have an alliance of electoral interests and criminal interests," said in a briefing Igor Dodon.

In this context, the head of state made "a last appeal" to the Action and Solidarity Party and the Truth Dignity Platform to ensure the quorum at today's plenary session and thus to show responsibility.

"I am making one last appeal to you. Show responsibility. Ensure the legal conduct of Parliament's sittings. You can now prove that you care about the interests of the citizens. I hope Candu hasn't bought you all yet. You can prove it today. Are you on Candu's agenda or on your agenda? Prove that you are not in Plahotniuc and Şor's team," Igor Dodon also declared.

According to the head of state, if a quorum is not provided even today, in the near future, the legal procedures for dismissal of the current Parliament will be initiated. At the same time, the head of state assures that the money promised to the citizens in the draft laws by which the Government assumes responsibility, will reach the people.

"If there is no quorum, we will do everything possible to give the promised money to people. In the next few days, together with the Prime Minister Ion Chicu, we will come up with some decisions and actions to be with the people in this cynical war, where on the one hand there are people, and on the other hand the mafia together with Sadu and Năstase. This Parliament is no longer representative, this Parliament where deputies are bought left and right must be dissolved. I will make use of all the legal powers to initiate the dissolution of this Parliament in the closest terms," Igor Dodon also declared.

TRM.MD recalls that yesterday, the opposition deputies made statements regarding a possible participation in today's sitting of the Parliament. Thus, the PAS representatives said that a decision related to the participation or non-participation in the plenary session will be taken by the faction, which will be convened after the Permanent Bureau, Radio Moldova reports.

The deputies of the DA Platform faction said that they will go to the Parliament tomorrow, but the decision to enter or not to enter the meeting room will be made according to the agenda.

The parliamentary group "Pro Moldova" could participate in the examination of the four projects, only if they will come to the Parliament through the ordinary procedure and will be put to the vote following the debates.

The deputies of the "Şor" Political Party faction declared that the decision to participate or not in the plenary session of the Parliament will be taken during the session of the faction, IPN wrote.

TRM.MD recalls that at the last sittings of the Parliament, when the Government was to assume responsibility for 4 draft laws, the deputies from PSRM and PDM were present, but without ensuring the necessary quorum of 51 deputies.

Even at this time, it is not clear whether the opposition will be present in the legislative forum.
