Igor Dodon is not resigning

He will not resign! It is the answer of the head of state to the requests to resign, coming from some deputies from the Parliament. Igor Dodon did not give a clear answer on whether or not to he will run for the presidential election, but said that the intention of the DA Platform to create a commission to suspend him would be related to the upcoming election campaign, reports Moldova 1.

The deputies of the DA Platform announced that, through the commission of inquiry, which they would like to lead, they want to shed light on some suspicions that would hover over the fortune owned by President Igor Dodon. The PAS faction announced that it will support the DA Platform initiative, in case it is created. In reply, Igor Dodon claims that the right-wing parties would follow the scenarios applied by the former leader of the Democrats Vlad Plahotniuc.

"Any such procedure has no chance. These commissions have been before. I remind you, a few years ago, Plahotniuc made the "Open Dialogue" commission against Maia Sandu. I see the right-wing camp doing the same thing. Don't those who initiate these commissions really understand that they are playing Plahotniuc's game? You go exactly on his script. I don't want to believe that the Năstase's people are in direct contact with Plahotniuc, but they do exactly what he wants. What is the point of demanding the resignation of the president, if in five months there are presidential elections," said the head of state.

Igor Dodon says he would be treated as an electoral opponent, but will decide whether or not to run in a new presidential race until three months later.

"The president will not resign, I can assure you. In terms of participation, whether I will participate or not, we will decide in September because we now have other issues. I go to the districts, people ask me about salaries, pensions, they ask me about drought, they ask me how we will help agriculture. There is no choice for me now, we will see the elections later. And I don't think people are interested in the elections either," said Igor Dodon.

The Parliament decided that on November 1, 2020, in the Republic of Moldova, the presidential elections will take place. The bill was voted by 50 deputies out of the 98 present at the sitting.
