Jens Stoltenberg: NATO is committed to respecting the neutrality, independence and integrity of Moldova

Prime Minister Maia Sandu met yesterday with the Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels. Maia Sandu appreciated NATO's contribution to reforms in our country and said the government would continue its partnership with NATO. Cooperation priorities include updating defense policies and strengthening cyber security. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg argues that NATO is committed to respecting the neutrality, independence and integrity of Moldova. In December 2017, a NATO liaison office was opened in Chisinau, Mesager reports.

"We want to continue our collaboration and to consolidate it. We are interested in NATO expertise, experience and assistance in implementing democratic reforms, in particular, updating national defense to the challenges of today. Moldova has benefited from NATO programs for several years in a row, which helped us to reform national security. Taking into account changes in the security, we are interested in expanding our co-operation in the field of cyber security", said Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu.

"The Republic of Moldova is a close partner of NATO, we will be further committed to this cooperation by fully supporting the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and respect for neutrality. Our partnership promotes peace and stability and makes us all feel safe. We are grateful for Moldova's contribution to the Kosovo peacekeeping mission since 2014. This proves that Moldova is responsible for maintaining international security", said the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
