The simple motion in the field of health failed

With a majority of votes against, the simple motion tabled by the parliamentary group "PRO MOLDOVA" on government policies in the field of public health carried out by the Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Viorica Dumbrăveanu, failed. According to the authors of the motion, the submission of the simple motion was dictated by the situation created following the management of the state of emergency in public health and the exceptional state caused by the pandemic through COVID-19.

"The state of affairs is the result of years of ignorance towards this field and towards the people who are guarding the health. Regardless of political visions, health must become a major priority on the agenda of the political class and society," said the Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

Present in the Parliament hall, about the health system in the country, but also the challenges that medical workers are facing at the moment, the head of the University Resuscitation Clinic, Victor Cojocaru, who now fights for the lives of positive COVID patients in intensive care in serious condition and extremely serious.

"This pandemic has brought us big problems related to the endowment with medicines, equipment. The situation is worse in the district hospitals, because there is another volume of work. This is our weak point. It's tense, it's tiring, we are at the limit, but we have to think about successfully getting out of the next stage," said Victor Cojocaru.

Deputies from the parliamentary factions of the "PRO MOLDOVA" parliamentary group, the Şor Political Party, the DA Platform, as well as the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) supported the simple motion. According to them, the Ministry of Health failed to manage the pandemic, the health situation being critical for the time being.

"Today's motion is about the fact that the Republic of Moldova is being pushed regularly and hard downstream," said Ruxanda Glavan, a member of the parliamentary faction of the "PRO MOLDOVA" parliamentary group.

"For the way you handled the pandemic crisis, your resignation seems too little to me. The Şor faction will vote for the simple motion," said the deputy of the Şor Political Party Marina Tauber.

"You have dusted off people's health, Mrs. Dumbraveanu, which is why the DA Platform will unhesitatingly support the censorship motion," said Igor Munteanu, deputy of the Dignity and Truth Platform.

"Because you have managed this pandemic disastrously, PAS will support the censure motion submitted today," said PAS deputy Dan Perciun.

In turn, deputies from the governing coalition PSRM-PDM accused the opposition of the disaster in the health system during their government.

"This motion comes precisely from those who were in certain periods responsible for the medical system and who, when they had the opportunity, did not act. On top of that, this motion comes from those who now spend the stolen billion on the purchase of deputies, instead of that money being used to save the medical system," said Moldovan Democratic Party MP Svetlana Rotundu.

"What is the accusation brought against Minister Dumbrăveanu? I mean, we have a disaster in medicine. I mean until March we had everything, we were competing with Sweden and Japan, but they all suddenly disappeared in March 2020, right? You have left a real disaster in medicine and do not hide behind your finger and say that it is not so," said the deputy of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova Bogdan Ţîrdea.

"I have verticality and I have honor, only I will not resign honorably, because I will carry out this mandate vertically, and those who want to offer your support in crisis management are always welcome," said Viorica Dumbrăveanu.

TRM.MD recalls that on June 18, the “PRO MOLDOVA” parliamentary group registered a simple motion against health policies, calling for an urgent reassessment of health policies, the separation of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection into two institutions, and massive testing of the population to COVID-19 infection.
