European Parliament: The Constitutional Court must not be affected by political interference

The Constitutional Court must not be affected by political interference. It is the statement of the European Parliament, which responded to the letter of the President of the High Court, Domnica Manole, regarding "the difficult situation the institution is going through", reports Moldova 1.

According to the document, signed by Siegfried Mureşan, chairman of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova, any kind of harassment is unacceptable, and the institution is of fundamental importance to the legal and political system in Moldova.

TRM.MD recalls that at the beginning of May, Domnica Manole publicly addressed the Venice Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and the entire diplomatic corps accredited to the Republic of Moldova, accusing pressure on the Constitutional Court. Later, the chairman of the Venice Commission, Gianni Buquicchio, said he was closely monitoring the situation in the Republic of Moldova.
