Pavel Filip: PD returns to parliament to be in active and constructive opposition

Democrats return to parliament to be in active and constructive opposition. The announcement was made today by Pavel Filip, leader of the PDM parliamentary faction, in a press briefing. He said the democrats would support the draft laws important for Moldovan citizens, even if they would come from the MPs in the new parliamentary majority, the Mesager reports.

"We will not be an opposition that blindly denies everything. We will vote for projects that are for the benefit of people. We come from the government and we know the areas of activity very well and we will continue to monitor them carefully. There are over 3 billion lei in the bank accounts of the Ministry of Finance, all payments including salaries and pensions have been fully paid up until 31 May. The auctions of 2.6 thousand km of roads have been finalized all over the country, the construction works of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline must continue according to the plan approved," stated the leader of the PDM faction, Pavel Filip.

Also today PD leader Vlad Plahotniuc published a message on his Facebook page stating that he was not in the country and that he no longer felt safe in Moldova. He also says that, in the context of the last events, he thought he would withdraw from politics, but he gave up the idea not to "disappoint the people who put their hope" into him. He says the party he is leading will work more on how to do politics, he will put aside what has not worked well and will come up with new ideas and actions.

TRM.MD recalls that the Democratic Party decided at the end of last week to withdraw from the power. Subsequently, the Constitutional Court canceled all its decisions from 7-9 June, aiming to dissolve the parliament.
