Pavel Filip: PDM is against early elections

Early elections are possible, but it is not desirable and definitely not PDM will trigger them. The statement was made by the president of the parliamentary faction of the Democrats in Parliament, Pavel Filip, in an interview with a news portal. He argues that from the point of view of the Democratic Party, a coalition must be created based on people's needs, not from party positions or state functions, Moldova 1 reports.

Pavel Filip argues that the current discussions and positions on the political scene are somewhat natural, but their unnecessary prolongation may cost the country. He says the Democratic Party has ruled and opposed the early elections, because such a scenario is destructive for the economy, for the continuity of social projects and the general stability of the country. Early elections would only delay the adoption of social measures expected by the whole society and would discourage the business environment and investments, Filip says.

From the point of view of the Democrats, a coalition must be created based on the needs of the people, not from party positions or from positions in the state. Pavel Filip claims that the best is the coalition that will solve people's problems without scandal, without pride and without hidden agenda. In his opinion, it is important to find common points for people and to freeze those that can generate divergences.

In the case of early parliamentary elections, Filip says that they should take place as the citizens of the country voted at the 24 February consultative referendum, that is, to elect 61 deputies, not 101. About two-thirds of the voters ruled on referendum to reduce the number of MPs.
