President of Criuleni district council resigns

Criuleni district council today accepted the resignation of chairman Veaceslav Burlac and nominated a former deputy interior minister, district’s honorary citizen Ion Turcan to this office. Twenty six councilors out of 29 ones present at the meeting voted for Turcan’s candidacy, Radio Moldova reports with reference to MOLDPRES.

Veaceslav Burlac said that his resignation has no connection with his work and the one of the Democratic Party at the parliamentary polls. Burlac will hold the position of deputy head in the Criuleni district’s administration.  

Ion Turcan is a police major general and worked in Interior Ministry’s structures. He was awarded the Stefan cel Mare and Military Merit orders.
