Poll: Three parties would enter the Legislative if early elections were held on Sunday

Three parties would enter the Legislative if early parliamentary elections were held next Sunday. These are the Socialist Party of Moldova (PSRM), the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM). At least this is the data of a poll conducted by IMAS. The investigation also reveals that the battle in the second round of the presidential elections would be between the current head of state, Igor Dodon and the former PM Maia Sandu, reports Mesager.

Thus, if early parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, over 34 percent of respondents would vote for the PSRM. PAS would gain nearly 23 percent of the vote, and the Democrats would get less than 6%.  The other parties would get less than six percent.

The current president, Igor Dodon and the leader of PAS Maia Sandu remain favorites in the presidential race. Of the number of respondents, over 40 percent would vote for Igor Dodon. The former prime minister, Maia Sandu would opt for just over 28%, and the leader of the Democrats, Pavel Filip, would get over nine percent. Pavel Filip is followed by the president of the Communists, Vladimir Voronin with 7% percent of votes.

The data of the poll also show that 47% of respondents believe that PSRM and PDM should establish a clear coalition to take over the country's government, and 25% believe  that they should maintain a collaborative relationship to avoid a political crisis.

The poll was conducted by IMAS in the period 07-19 February 2020 on a sample of 1109 respondents. The margin of error is ± 3.0%.
